“What is this? Is it a joke?
She knows what she is saying, but she refuses to follow the pronunciation rules of Spanish... with the exception of rolling her ‘r’ and ‘rr’ most of the time.
She is speaking Spanish words in English. American English uses at least 15 vowel sounds. Spanish uses 5! So why does she refuse to speak Spanish in Spanish? She is physically capable of making all sounds required by Spanish pronunciation rules, but she seems to have some sort of psychological aversion to doing so.
Perhaps she thinks it is just going to be her accent. Hopefully other native Spanish speakers will find it charming. (To me it is an insult.)
Please, if you are trying to hear what Spanish sounds like, listen elsewhere. THIS is not it! It would be unfortunate if other new Spanish speakers picked up this bad pronunciation as a bad habit.”
