“Just rented a Trek Fuel EX (size XL, 27.5s w 2.8 rubbers) while my bike was getting shocks rebuilt. Bike plowed through everything and gripped and climbed like a charm. But I had at least 10-15 pedal strikes per ride which is a major safety concern. I too have had some of my worst crashes due to pedal strikes and for this reason I will not move to lower and slacker willingly. The industry will be doing everyone east of the Rocky Mountains a disservice by going the lower BB route. Hopefully the pendulum will moderate at some point in the near future. Otherwise we will all be riding pushbikes like my 3 year old neighbor across the street - who needs pedals anyway?”
