Nothemba Jessica Sonjica was born and raised in the Eastern Cape. She obtained her law degree from the University of Fort Hare. She is an admitted attorney with right of appearance in the High Court, Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court. Nothemba is currently studying towards her Masters in Human Rights Protection and she is also an Accredited Mediator. She describes herself as a gender activist and her passion for gender equality is what ultimately paved the way for her current role as a Legal Officer at the Commission for Gender Equality.
