Weekly Shot of Cultural Joy
I love turning on the Slate Culture Podcast when it’s Wednesday and I’m not sure if I can put in another 2 days of work or when I can’t take one more word of bad news coming from my podcast library or when I’m afraid of democracy collapsing. Dana, Steve and Julia always broaden my perspective and let me know that there’s a whole complex and fun world of movies, books, art, television, theater, etc. to enjoy no matter what else is happening in the world. I love Steve’s humor, Dana’s hyper-educated insights delivered at hyper speed and Julia’s quirky endorsements of cultural products such as measuring spoons and underwear. I’ve listened to them for so long that they seem like extended family.

The show’s given me lots to chew on and helped me sharpen my own analyses, even (or especially) when I quibble with one of the host’s takes (ok, it’s usually Steve’s ;). I’m so grateful that the hosts have kept at it...Read full review »
