Low quality for Slate
Unfortunately this comes off as an amateur Podcast on an interesting subject. The host Ruth runs her mic as she interviews to create syncopated interruptions of “mhmm”, “right”, and “yea”. Ultimately her line of questions are either from a list or in response to the very first thing the interviewee says. Thus I’m left wondering who these affirmations are for if the interviewer isn’t truly listening... The sequence of events are explored haphazardly. I understand the timeline, but I feel there could have been more of an effort to create an arc in the retelling. At times the host explores details that are pretty unimportant such as the origin of the thumbnail photo for the podcast. Other times seemingly important facts are sequestered to one line: such as the events surrounding MOVE in Philadelphia which an interviewed law enforcement officer literally says was central to how they decided to respond in this case. The podcast may progress positively so take this review with a grain of salt. Unfortunately I will not be sticking around to find out.
