Description
Today we spoke with Niamh Brady - Productivity Coach, creator of the Better Workday programme, and author of ‘Remote Working Essentials’ Niamh stood out to us at the recent IBEC KeepWell Summit 2022 in Croke Park - her clarity of thought and simplicity of message is a rare thing these days. Her mission is to help create a better workday for professionals worldwide, with her areas of focus being wellbeing and productivity in the workplace...we love this at Hauora! We unpacked her transition from employment to being a self-employed business owner, and when she recognised she needed that change. She is considered a thought leader around Burnout in Ireland - and shed light on early identifiers of it, and the story of the truck that caused her to look closely at her work - life balance. Niamh spoke about boundaries, working from home, and its challenges for working women and men (especially those with young families), work intensity during a typical day and week, fallow fridays - and the necessity of taking genuine time off from work to recharge...with a plan around the year being essential. This was jam-packed with actionable tools, and simple pieces of advice - enjoy! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Highlights 🔥 A recipe for burnout ❌ Ignoring warnings from friends and family ✋ Creating and sticking to boundaries 📃 No more to-do list…think Done List 📲 Improving our relationship with our phones 🔑 The keys to creating successful behaviour change Timestamps (4:04) - National coverage of burnout (4:38) - Creating balance with a month-off agenda (5:29) - Founding A Better Workday (7:00) - Hallucinating due to burnout (8:01) - The recipe for burnout (9:30) - Ignoring warnings from family + friends (11:24) - Boundaries and sticking to them (13:24) - Taking a day off and facing resistance (13:49) - There is a stage for hard work in life (15:47) - Being where your feet are (17:39) - Feeling like you've earned a break and the Done List (20:23) - Looking longer term when planning (21:30) - Planning and creating a roadmap for productivity (23:13) - Setting ground rules + planning rest (25:07) - 4-day work week + hybrid work (26:53) - Adding intention to our sporting identity (27:50) - Creating successful behaviour change (30:17) - Learning from Cal Newport (34:30) - What does high performance mean to you? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ For information on previous guests and shows please visit www.SleepEatPerformRepeat.com.
