Mathematics teaching is going down the same rabbit hole
In spite of the current research evidence inquiry-based approaches are gaining ground in Australia. We’re following a path in high schools that is only compounding the deficits students bring with them from their primary years. Materials are being tweaked to appear to fit the ‘explicit teaching’ requirement most education departments are calling for but lessons that always start with an investigation activity make no sense to me. Sold A Story in Mathematics is desperately needed!
