Nobel Peace Prize Deserving Journalist
Emily Hanford has actually taken the time to research, investigate, and shine a desperately needed light on *gasp* elementary education! A subject that very few reporters care to take seriously, let alone dedicate 5+ years to! All the people I forced to listen to this (none are educators or even have kids) called me up, sometimes in tears, they have been so moved by the excellent storytelling & breathtakingly high quality journalism. No accolade is too great.

Emily Hanford has been the singular reliable journalism resource for where literacy currently stands. Should be required listen & reading for all educator programs, and anyone that works with children. Top notch reporting!

As an elementary teacher I am infuriated that the science of reading and phonics was never taught to me! I have a specialized reading endorsement and I have only been teaching 8 years. Why do I have to comb the internet to figure out how to teach kids how to read? It makes no sense.

Emily Hanford is a great synthesizer, taking complex information and making it palpable for those outside of education. This podcast should be #1 because we should all be talking about why our kids aren’t reading and what we can do better.
