65. How Do I Know I’m Making The Right Decision?
Listen now
Description
Ah, decision fatigue…anxiety…worry…regret!!! All of these are commonly experienced emotions when it comes to finalizing a choice in our lives, whether that be to leave a relationship, change jobs, move cities, or even decide what to wear. Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/9E48mFbhCZs?si=eCReZ-BPMzCeNOOa We treat decisions as if they have the power to give us heaven or hell, and so we suspend ourselves in limbo racking our brains until we finally choose the “right” one, feeling guilt and doubt along the way. We ask our friends, parents, coworkers, and even our own PAST selves for advice…everyone except our own true selves in the present moment about what we truly want. But what if we told you making decisions didn’t have to feel that way? What if making a decision was an opportunity to question your socialization AND own your truth. In this radically honest conversation, we share some of the hardest decisions we have had to make, including Gina’s 3 year long dilemma to not have another baby along with the mental framework that we applied to help us experience more clarity, ease and trust in making those choices. We share candidly how hard it used to be to make decisions because of what we used to make certain decisions mean about ourselves: “If I do X, then they’ll judge me.” “If I don’t do X, then I’ll feel guilty.” Unfortunately, most of are trying to make decisions that will help us avoid emotional pain and if that’s our criteria for decision making…we might end up making choices that don’t serve us in the long run. By the end of this conversation, you will have a better understanding of what holds you back from making decisions and how to know if you’re making the “right” one for you. Highlights: -Having to make decisions is an opportunity to question what assumptions you’re making about the outcomes of such decision -Gina shares her journey around the ultimate decision to not have a second baby (this will be helpful even if you don’t have children or already have more than one!) -How to know if making the decision to leave a relationship or career will serve you -Sam and Gina both share the decision and thought process preceding their decision to leave their real estate careers and go ALL IN -Questioning the paradigm that creates a bind where we are trying to make decisions that will somehow be completely painless -- FINALLY! Spiralers, we're calling you (and ourselves!) out. It's time to become aware of and heal our attachment to the far too common "ALL OR NOTHING" paradigm - where you are either going full throttle, pedal to the metal, or completely exhausted and avoiding things all together. Listen to this episode...
