“Hey buds, love the show and sending love from Atlantic Canada. I gotta correct the record on something though. On episode 495 Biz and Whit rail against Chicago for all the favouritism the league has shown them. Some of that criticism is legit; all the outdoor games for example. However, they claimed that this favouritism extends to “all of these first overall picks” which is clearly not true. In their 100 + history Chicago has only drafted first overall twice: Kane in 07 and Bedard in 23. The hawks dwelled in the bowels of the standings leading up to both drafts. Whit’s Oilers have drafted twice as many first overalls in the last 14 years than Chicago had in the last 100. Anyone about to play the favouritism card against Edmonton? The truth is, the resurgence of the Hawks circa 08-09 has been one of the best developments in the sport in a generation, even if you only want to look at it from a business perspective. They get those outdoor games because the Hawks organization has been brilliant at managing those events and their massive market can accommodate them. Cheers, buds.
