Ep 11. What it's like to be the only female cosplayer at an esports event
Description
Gab (Lucky Bonez) went to the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) esports event in Sydney over the weekend. It was the biggest Australia has seen and it was "something else." It was nothing like a convention, and it was monstrous. Gab thinks there were about 15, 000 people attending over the weekend. She cosplayed as Jinx from League of Legends, even though she's never played the game. There were a lot of male attendees, not a lot of females and no other cosplayers. Gab didn't find it daunting though, so many people approached her and complimented her on how amazing her cosplay was. There was a big community vibe, with a lot of genuine and friendly people. Unlike a convention there were no booths selling items, just big computer companies wanting you to sit sit down and play their games. Gab was an outsider going to a whole new world, and it was an eye opener. Also this week, Dan and Gab ask what Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and Pennywise have in common?
Lucky and Grimm (Gab and Dan) saw 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' and they loved it. Tom Holland was excellent. Dan thinks this is the best Spider-Man movie he's ever seen. Michael Keaton nails the scary, bad guy; he's unsettling and creepy. You can see this as a stand-alone movie, if you haven't seen...
