“SpongeBob has endured because it was funny. It has endured because it was goofy, silly, and incredible quotable.
If you wanted a fun podcast about a fun show this isn’t it. Like everything else in our culture, Spongebob will need to be metaphorically torn down and rebuilt by the woke.
This attempt by Nichalodean to try to walk back why an effeminate sponge was funny to kids 20 years ago is pathetic. From the first pilot, was SpongeBob working out by lifting teddy bears because they were “pushing gender stereotypes” or because that is funny? The hosts of the show will tell you it’s the former. Anybody back then will tell you that it’s FUNNY. And anybody today who tells you it’s not needs to lighten up.
Oh, don’t forget that SpongeBob takes place in an underwater world because we need the next generation to care about ecology, even though the hosts have no primary sources to back up such a claim. Much of this podcast is going to be trying to justify things in the past that don’t need to be justified. Give it a listen yourself”
