Substance alert! Not just another hollow podcast.
SI weekly counters its competition with insightful, journalistic segments. If you’ve exhausted your share of sensationalist sports pods featuring dulled ex-jocks shouting and amateur comedians trying to outwit each other, this pod is refreshing, and might be the one for you. The stories and interviews are constructed by real writers and the host (a fantastic writer himself) navigates the journey in an unforced, unscripted and naturally extemporaneous manner. I grew up a subscriber to SI. My dad bought me my first magazine when I was 10 and I couldn’t wait to get to that mailbox every week. I used to clip photos of my favorite players and tape them to my bedroom wall. I loved reading all of the articles. This pod for me, is a meeting between nostalgia and new(we) media. I love it and look forward to it by appointment. John Gonzalez is an excellent host. I really hope the last segment in which pro athletes recall their meaningful appearances in SI is a recurring one. Great stuff!! 10/10

I normally like this podcast but the Pat Forde episode was just so boring and uninteresting

I was interested in a weekly deep dive podcast from SI but I want nothing to do with anything that John Gonzalez is associated with. Awful host. Just awful.
