EP-19: The Latest On The CFL Is… There Isn’t Much To Report
Listen now
Description
In recent weeks, controversy has been swirling around the Canadian Football League and its discussions — or lack thereof — with the CFLPA on return-to-play protocols, requests for federal funding and more. This should have been Week 1 of the CFL season, and Richard and Donnovan have the latest on what’s happening… or not. CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie addresses many of those issues, including returning to play this year, minimizing financial losses, hub-city scenarios, government assistance and what needs to be collectively bargained with the players before the season can begin.  And then Nate Behar, a wide receiver for the Ottawa Redblacks, offers a player’s opinion. He talks about what this period has been like for him, the discussions between the league and players about a return-to-play model, what players are saying about finances, and if he would feel comfortable playing right now.  COVID-19 Resources: (1) The New York Times: How to Hug During a Pandemic (2) The New York Times: When 511 Epidemiologists Expect to Fly, Hug and Do 18 Other Everyday Activities Again This episode is scripted, produced and sound designed by Amil Delic, and hosted by Donnovan Bennett and Richard Deitsch.
