Description
The Toronto Wolfpack are in a unique position in sports —a franchise based in Canada that plays in England’s rugby Super League. It’s a trans-Atlantic set-up that has always had challenges, but never more so than it will this season, if there is one. The Super League is currently on pause due to COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean the club isn’t working ahead in the hope that there’s a campaign to contend and home games to play. Bob Hunter is the Wolfpack’s Chairman and CEO, he joins Richard and Donnovan to discuss the team’s recent partnership with TraceSafe to provide in-stadium location tracking and how the technology will provide fans a safer experience. He also talks about the challenges the club has faced during the pandemic, on and off the field. Wayne Lloyd is the CEO of Blockchain Holdings Ltd. and the President of TraceSafe. He talks about why it was a good fit to partner with the Wolfpack, how contact-tracing bracelets work, what happens to the data gathered, privacy measures and how the technology could be implemented in other industries.  COVID-19 Resources: (1) NPR: From Camping To Dining Out: Here’s How Experts Rate The Risks Of 14 Summer Activities (2) Bloomberg: The Introverts’ and Extroverts’ Guide to Thriving in a Lockdown This episode is scripted, produced and sound designed by Amil Delic, and hosted by Donnovan Bennett and Richard Deitsch.
