Ghana and Uruguay created one of the most dramatic and controversial moments in World Cup history in 2010, when the "Black Stars” were the width of a crossbar away from becoming the first African team to reach the semi-finals. Uruguay's Luis Suárez was sent off in the last minute of extra time for handling the ball on the line and then celebrated wildly when Ghana's Asamoah Gyan's penalty hit the bar. Ghana went on to lose a penalty shoot-out, a continent was heartbroken and Suárez became public enemy number 1 in Africa.
