“Thank you all for providing such a comprehensive, multi perspective POV for this show. I love that they made a competition reality show after the original series so soon. And held true to the purpose and magnitude of the original series. Love listening to all of you! I had one takeaway I wanted to comment on in your finale recap. I agreed and was not a Mai fan…continued until almost halfway thru the final episode. I truly wanted Phil to win so much. But after a few days and listening to your latest episode. My feelings have changed. Phil cannot not be likeable. An obvious fan favorite. He is earnest, humble, and one of those special people to takes so much gratitude in the simple things. Sam also can come in as a fan favorite. Extremely difficult life and puts his head down and perseveres. He is a survivor, he is intelligent, aware but kept a low profile. Mai is awkward. He presents as not as likeable, potentially self serving early in the competition, I didn’t know if I trusted the authenticity of her relationships with Chad and Tj. However, what is the point of squid games. Mai is older, not as socially adaptable , she was upfront and closed off. Then they let us in on Mai. I think it was beautiful and really representative of some of the underlying themes and purposes of the show. Phil is going to probably be on Love Island. Or get some amazing job opportunities because he is so likeable and special. Sam is probably already the spokesperson for Harry’s men’s products and potentially his transparency will provide a potential platform for his mother to grow, expand her mom, repair or atleast show her son he is loved. Mai was thoughtful, resilient, and as she has done in her life. She did that on her own back with no help. She persevered. Sorry for the novel. Love this podcast!”
