Unapologetically smart
I love the wide variety of topics that Anna and Caroline tackle on this show and how they are unapologetic about giving the same analytical weight to a children’s cartoon and a weighty piece of art film and fan fiction and all kind of other popular and serious culture. They also have such a nice conversational style and clear respect for each other’s ideas—the part where they trade recommendations is such a lovely expression of this. The special episodes they run with other critics from the New Statesman staff are also a HUGE treat. For real, the Harry Potter episode was some of the most intriguing criticism I’ve ever encountered of that series—SO thought-provoking and SO smart. This podcast has very quickly become one of my favorites and I’m so pleased that they update every week! More brilliant ladies making thoughtful podcasts, plz! (Bonus points if they are also delightfully British…)

I found this podcast via the New Statesman and listen every week. The hosts, Caroline and Anna, are good fun - warm, welcoming and full of intelligent insights. I'm in Australia so not always familiar with the TV shows being discussed - but I enjoy it all the same!
