Slate Cultural Gabfest: UK Edition
What am I to do when my dear Stephen Metcalf, Dana Stevens, and Julia Turner aren’t there to discuss The Night Manager? SRSLY shamelessly lifts the format of the Slate shows, but Caroline and Anna make such a warm, smart yet unpretentious duo that it’s hard to complain. The two are settling into their roles nicely, though I find conversation can tend toward agreement too often - a touch more debate and disagreements would elevate the show further - bringing guests in for segments might help, a la Stephen on the Friends ep. Nonetheless - great listening on a diverse range of topics (having just read The Magicians last week was a well timed treat), and filling a nice UK shaped hole in cultural discussion that Americans seem to excel at. My cooking audio accompaniment the past year - fab. Fans should also check the New Statesman podcast.

Always love listening - it's a great selection of media, at least by my tastes, and does't feel either to broad or too narrow. The hosts are always intellegent, funny, sensitive (in the positive sense), and lighthearted. It's definately a comfort listen.

A lovely British take on worldwide pop-culture news, which can range from Pixar to graphic novels about subjects like Iran. This is all packed in a wonderfully quaint 30-40 minutes. One of the best parts of any Monday, the new SRSLY podcast. Great work guys 😄
