The real low down on the industry
Looking forward to this—a conversation that is past due, especially in the arts industry. Starting with me too, abuse stories have been front and center, but what about insidious types of mental abuse? How do you feel when being gaslit and bullied at a job that you thought was going to get you to the next level? Arts jobs are still jobs. Employees need to feel safe and supported in office environments, and even more when doing the incredibly personal work of being an actor. Workplace protections are one of the next big areas for us as a society to grapple with, and the dramatization of just one example can kick-start a conversation that sheds light on the gunk just under the shiny surface of the theater industry.
