“George Gilder’s pronouncement that Satoshi made a mistake stopping the expansion of Bitcoin because it prevents Bitcoin from being a time-value like gold. I guess it is because gold’s time-value has been consistent over the ages and will continue into the future because gold mining and discovery will continue into the future. This is a real head scratcher. What would happen if there were more humans than the number of Satoshis. The system would have definitely broken down. How many people would it take to brake a Bitcoin economy. I think the average family size is decreasing and ultimately will see 2 for 2 replacement of people. A Bitcoin economy might survive into the far distant future on earth.
On the other hand, our current technology allows us to bring back samples from astroids, our Moon and soon Mars. Maybe Elon Musk will find a way to drive his Tesla now in orbit out to an astroid and bring it back to Earth to mine for gold. Astroid mining could potentially flood the earth with new gold to the detriment of people saving gold and a gold based economy.
I think Mr. Gilder’s pronouncement is wrong. What do you think?”
