Stepfamily Central – Remarriage from a child’s perspective
Listen now
Description
Divorce and remarriage can be very difficult for children to handle. In fact, twice as many children from divorced families experience academic, behavioral, or interpersonal problems when compared to children from intact families. Even those who don’t have any obvious problems, still experience loss when their parent’s divorce, and must undergo some adjustment when their parents remarry. Today, Rachelle talks about remarriage from a child’s perspective with Ron Deal, a marriage and family author, conference speaker, and therapist. Ron now serves as director of Blended Family Ministries for Family Life. He is the author of several books including The Smart Stepfamily: Seven Steps to a Healthy Family, The Smart Stepmom (coauthored with Laura Petherbridge), The Remarriage Checkup: Tools to Help Your Marriage Last a Lifetime (coauthored with Dr. David Olson, and The Smart Stepdad. His latest book is Dating and the Single Parent. Ron, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 25 years experience in local church ministry and family ministry consulting, is a member of the Stepfamily Expert Council for the National Stepfamily Resource Center. He has appeared in dozens of national radio and TV broadcasts, including Fox News, MSNBC, and ABC Nightline.
