If you think residential schools were a great idea…????
…please listen to this podcast. I just finished listening to season 2 of Stolen: surviving St.Michael’s. I am a fourth generation settler in Canada. Connie Walker would be close to my age. I learned nothing about residential schools growing up. I knew nothing about sexual abuse as a child. I never felt someone would take me away from my family and rip away my culture. The journey Connie takes us through is so real, raw, and vulnerable, I was completely taken in and full of pain listening to the intergenerational suffering. It’s not that by this time I had not learned and believed all these things happened. It was the personal intimate first hand accounts that tore up my heart. I wish every Canadian would listen to this podcast; we need to LISTEN! We have so much to learn and heal from. Thank you Connie for bringing all these facts to life in your own special patient insightful way. You are an excellent guide and teacher. Your parents, your community must be so very proud of you!
