Christianity has been placed in a special protected social position of being beyond question, beyond doubt, and that privileged position makes it possible for Christian Nationalists to launch attacks against democracy with impunity. This could be America's last Independence Day, and so, we need to speak honestly about the ties between Christian doctrine and Christian Nationalist extremism.
