A real and practical podcast
10 years ago I graduated with a degree in fiction writing from Pitt. Since then I’ve read, watched, and listed to so much material about writing that it’s more or less all faded into one long drone of repetitive concepts. This, finally, is something fresh and new (at least to me). Sometimes it’s a unique perspective on old concepts like the inciting incident, the crisis and resolution. Other times it’s outright literary heresy, like the idea of “obligatory scenes.” But what I really like about it is the practicality. Everything they talk about is a manageable action step that can improve your story. If you’re doing any type of narrative writing, I highly recommend checking this out.

Shawn and Tim unite in this Podcast to create a unique pairing Tim asks questions on behalf of emerging writers while Shawn spins wisdom from the perspective of a veteran editor. Great contrast complemented by two strong personalities.
