Just what “these times” require
It’s very early days in this podcast, so as legislators sometimes say “I reserve the right to revise or extend these remarks.” But so far the concept and production of this podcast are pitch perfect! I am a NYT subscriber living in the upper Midwest, and a wannabe poet /retired academic. To me, it feels like this podcast (which I discovered because I listen to The Daily) arrived at the absolute right time! Yes! I want to hear conversations with writers who have learned a thing or two about the world. Why? Because it makes me feel connected at a time when the world seems to be unraveling at every seam.

Brilliant, timely podcast. Some of the West’s best writers. Each interview better than the last. Calmly provocative. Thank you

You forget you are listening to something and not part of it. Totally engaging and with that sense of experiencing top quality work.

In the first episode, Cheryl Strayed and her guest, writer George Sanders, talked about writing in the time of pandemic. Two intelligent humans looking beyond our common immediate anxieties with compassion and humility. I didn’t know my news-saturated soul needed this, but I do and I’m grateful.
