“Everything about this show is just as absurd and wacky as some of the brightest primary-colored spandex. But you just gotta love it. From names like Ratman and Duperman, to the over the top voices, it’s all ridiculous, but if you embrace (or in my case, adore) the silliness, I think you’ll find a lot of heart, and great deal of cleverness mixed in.
The superhero parody component is relatively straightforward, nothing you wouldn’t see in a live action kid’s sit-com about superheroes, with some of the Superheroes being straight up one to one references to DC characters (like Ratman and Duperman) but lawyer angle makes everything feel unique and fresh. They go just as wild with the lawyer angle as well. My favorite episode so far is the one where they go to truly absurd lengths just to stall (one method involving a “malfunctioning” AI and absurd amounts of Sonic the Hedgehog lore).
But I think the biggest strength of the show is it’s main characters, which are silly enough to fit in with the rest of the world (a boss that’s basically a vampire due to being bitten by a radioactive mosquito), but have enough depth to feel like something real is in there. Harper, as an idealistic young kid just trying to find their own way to help out this world, really serves as the heart of the show. I really believe, that in a world where men and women fly through buildings to save countless innocents, there’s one student just trying to be the best lawyer they can be, and help out everyone they can.
There’s a giant smile on my face every time I hear that extremely campy narrator come on, and a new episode starts. If it sounds like your thing, please give it a try!!”
