Known as the "5th Stroke," this powerful skill was not always seen as beneficial to swimmers. It wasn't until 1988 at the elite swimmers showed the world the power of an underwater dolphin kick and forced the start of several rule changes to diminish its use. We explore this history and talk through the technique and advantages underwater dolphin kicks have for swimmers -- faster, saves energy and so much more.
