28 Days Later
I started listening to the podcast after Tina Mabry was on & discussed ‘Set It Off’. I loooooove that movie & Tina & really enjoyed the ep & have been listening ever since. I’m a Black woman writer/director & wish more Black Women creators were on the podcast so I was excited when I saw 28 Days Later was going to be discussed. You guys talked about feminism & how “woke” the film was but I was really bummed that more wasn’t made of Selena (Naomi Watts) a woman, not only being the “leader” but also the fact that Selena was black. A black woman was the leader in a horror film at a time when Black Women were NEVER leads in movies like this, or at all. That was a HUGE deal for me watching that film, espc as a horror/sci-fi lover. Before Michonne or Kelita Smith on ZNation, Selana was everything. I love the podcast & really hope you have more Black Women on (Tina’s been the only one I believe). Love the female empowerment, but please do not be afraid to discuss race as, I’d assume, you have Women of Color and Black Women like me listening. Intersectionality is important.

Saying that though it's so nice to have found one not only done by a film critic but also featuring women...Read full review »

I identify as female and crave female led genre in ALL things. This feeds that need and my new need/interest in directing film. Thank you for opening a door and then leaving it open for us newcomers. It pushes me to continue toward this new world of film directing.
