If you think McCartney is a genius, this is for you
This is a great series of podcasts. I don’t say that lightly. It’s in an interesting and unusual format - to smart, musically informed, well researched fans talk (and sometimes debate) their way through the McCartney solo canon. I know a lot about McCartney and I learned a whole heap more. These guys are obsessively (in the best possible way). What I like more than the detail and the obvious enthusiasm for the music, is the banter and the humour, and the personal touches they share about how they found this music. Let’s face it - for all the breathtaking genius of Paul, their are moments on the sooo and Wings records that just defy words - in some cases and they seem to be wilfully weird or just plain “misses”. But in the end the talent of Paul as a musician, vocalist, arranger and most of all a songwriter really come through and they get this. Totally get it. They love Macca and I just loved this. I binged my way through the podcasts (to are) over a month after I found them. I then went back to the albums with renewed ears. In some cases albums I had bought at release and been disappointed with (London Town) got resurrected in my mind. This is worth a big vote of thanks. The hosts recognise Paul’s peak in the 70-76 period and the failing off (with moments of resurgence) but they tell the story with an underlying sympathy for the musician I have most lived with (though his music) and admired. This is my find of the year. Thank guys. You’re great!

I have picked up a few of the archive releases at decent prices over past year, but this Christmas saw me buying the Red Rose...Read full review »

Overall would strongly recommend but there are some irksome elements. Such as the often repeated phrase “I think this is one of those songs that I’m supposed to like”, I think, er yes you’re supposed to like it, doesn’t that apply to every song that anyone has ever written?! Still a good podcast...Read full review »
