Old and new friends
Some 13+ years ago my husband bought me some coaching after having 2 kids in 17 months to help me train for a triathlon in London. I was an experienced runner and triathlete who had competed to a decent level pre pregnancy. A mutual amazing Icelandic friend had put him in touch with a coach and new Mum called Edwina Sutton - a pretty handy triathlete herself. We clicked straight away (I had already seen this amazingly fast lady running in Richmond Park with her running buggy as I shuffled along with mine and attempted (and failed) to keep up! What followed was many many fairly unpleasant session (no surprises there to many regular listeners) and many laps of Richmond Park together - back when I could run fast!! In time we both moved out of London and busy lives have lead to very intermittent communication but I have followed Eddie’s adventures on Strava and been fascinated with her crazy runs and events. A chance comment on Facebook by one of my running club mates on Tea & Trails page alerted me to her podcast and I’ve been an avid listener since. I’m now a middle aged (currently injured) runner converted from road to trail - coincided with move to Yorkshire some 11 years ago and aquisition of a cocker spaniel dog (allowed on sofa, not allowed upstairs, best running buddy ever!) I look forward to every Friday episode and enjoy listening Tommy 2 friends Eddie & Gary on dog walks or during gym sessions - I’ve long had a love of the north East accent and feel Gary is also a good friend and love their easy banter together. Everyone comments that listening to these 2 feel like having a run with friends and I have to agree. Keep up the good work guys - Fridays wouldn’t be the same without you. Great guests and content - always makes me smile. One of these days I’ll catch up with Eddie in person but in the meantime, I look forward to her and Gary’s company every week 😊 5 star podcast for all runners
