The title of this podcast Teaching Middle School, yet you give an example of an effective classroom management strategy that was effective in a 5th grade class. I teach 8th grade in the inner city; not only will this strategy not work, we are not allowed to show movies, have a party, or give free time: especially as a reward! This school of thought sends the message that our daily lessons that focus on mastering the standards for student achievement is a punishment! Everything we do must be standards based.

This podcast is different from so many of the other podcasts geared towards teachers. Caitlin does an incredible job of sharing real, actionable advice and tips. Her ideas are thoughtful and meaningful. She really is an expert in her field!
