I teach 8th grade in the inner city; not only will this strategy not work, we are not allowed to show movies, have a party, or give free time: especially as a reward! This school of thought sends the message that our daily lessons that focus on mastering the standards for student achievement is a punishment! Everything we do must be standards based.”
