Description
It's a wrap on Indian Wells! The tournament with unique conditions, hard courts slow as clay, and a reputation as the fifth grand slam, gave tennis fans around the world plenty of entertainment, and nerds like us plenty to think and talk about.
Elena Rybakina powered her way through to win her first-ever WTA 1000 title, and did so with a bang: by completely blowing 2022 champion and World No.1 Iga Swiatek off the court in the semifinals, and taking her sweet revenge over World No.2 and Australian Open champion (b. Rybakina in final) Aryna Sabalenka.
Carlos Alcaraz did not drop a set in the tournament, seeing off rivals Felix Auger-Aliassime, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev, in convincing wins. The level of tennis Alcaraz is playing, the level of fitness, on-court awareness, tennis IQ, and shot-making, are all out of this world, and it's VERY hard not to keep hyping him and believing he can ascend to the level of the all-time greats.
