Description
On November 7th, 2017, Democrat Danica Roem became our country’s first openly transgender state representative, defeating Virginia’s self-proclaimed “chief homophobe” Robert Marshall, by nine percentage points. Delegate Roem is now a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 13th district. On our first episode of 2018, Delegate Roem will talk about her road to politics and the challenges she faced during her race. And Washington Post Reporter, Antonio Olivo, who covered her campaign from the very beginning, shares his behind-the-scenes look on her historic victory. Hear it now, on Stories Beyond the Headlines with Teresa Rodríguez.
