The Suicide Epidemic. Understanding the signs and getting help.
Description
The recent suicides, in the same week, of designer Kate Spade and celebrity chef and storyteller Anthony Bourdain, have shocked the world. Suicide has become a public health crisis. From 1999 to 2010, the suicide rate in the United States has increased by 30%. More people die by suicide than car accidents. How can you tell when someone is suffering? And how can you help? Teresa’s guests, the director of the Crisis Hotline Daniel De Vries and Help Line Counselor Richard Shutes will share how to recognize the signs of despair, hopelessness and what you can do on this episode of Stories Beyond the Headlines. Too important to miss!
