Description
“If I stay up late, there's a good chance my adenomyosis is going to flare up. It does not like staying up late. And it will let me know it's time to go to bed. It will cramp up to the point of nausea. Either that or I sleep through it every night and it's just something that happens. But I don't know. I don't know. I can't explain my body or Adenomyosis.” — Emily, 5 Days Until Uterus Eviction Day

In This Episode:
I’m currently dealing with some pain flares from Adenomyosis, which is exacerbated if I stay up late I’m discovering.
I’ve replaced all my “shoulds” with the word “behooves” and it’s just the reframe I needed to actually enact some of those healthier habits that make me feel better, like going to bed at a reasonable hour.
Shout-out to Women & ADHD podcast with Katy Weber. This podcast (plus my therapist) has helped me really keep a handle on my ADHD brain through this whole process of preparing for my hysterectomy.
Adenomyosis really has to cause havoc and make it every other organ’s problem, doesn’t it? It’s not enough it’s affecting my uterus, fallopean tubes, and cervix, but now it’s causing an upset stomach? I can’t win with this BS.
Adding to the list of things that make today a lovely day: Singing! Choir days! Learning new music and practicing to get better :-)
I’m enjoying looking at the next few days before surgery kind of like Finals week in college where I can get my head into gear to get everything done I need to do before the semester is over. And it makes me think I should try to push myself like this more often (but I know it’s not sustainable).
It’s also nice finally putting the focus on my health and what I need at the moment. I even got myself in a peppier mood by the end of the episode and revved myself up for another day getting stuff done!

“Having my 6-year-old bouncing off the walls on a day I need to do a lot more work might not be the best idea. But you know what? It just adds to ‘Finals Week.’ Like your friend in college who says, ‘Hey, I know you're studying for finals, but also it's $2 drink night down at Senior Ponchos....
