Description
[Video question]   Katie: Is there one end goal in life? Is there one destination that we’re going towards and, if so, do all of our day-to-day decisions change that and affect that? And is there one road that leads to that goal? Or can you take a million different paths to get there? [Video ends]   Brother Bob: Definitively, the Holy Scriptures answers with a resounding yes. There definitely is a very clear destination, a very clear goal, that we are all on our journey to, here inside the Church Of Christ.   [Show open]   Brother Bob: Apostle Paul spoke of the end journey that, or the end of the journey that he took in these terms, that will help us understand. 2 Timothy is where it’s recorded in verses, chapter 4, verses 6, 7 and 8. Here’s what he wrote…   For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not only to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. [2 Timothy 4:6-8 New King James Version]   Brother Bob: Is there really an end to the journey that we’re traveling? Absolutely. Apostle Paul referred to it as a race; a course that he finished at the end of his life. How about all of us? Where does that race end? Where is the finish line? Where is the goal, what’s the goal that we should all be aspiring for and towards, dear friends? Revelation, chapter 21, gives the clear description of it, like this, in verses 1, 2, 3 and 4.   Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. [Revelation 21:2-4 New King James Version]   Brother Bob: Dear friends, the Bible’s description of that place is a place without tears, without grief, sorrow, pain, suffering of any kind. The end of this journey in this life is there. We have a clear – Katie, we have a very clear vision of what lies ahead; a place of peace and security for all true and faithful servants of God. But are there many different roads that all end up in that place? Can we just journey the Protestant way or any other religious way and end up at the same end destination? Isaiah, the prophet, answers this way. Isaiah 59:8 says this:   The way of peace they have not known, And there is no justice in their ways; They have made themselves crooked paths; Whoever takes that way shall not know peace. [Isaiah 59:8 New King James Version]   Brother Bob: All roads travel to that same end destination? Oh, no. The Bible makes clear, there are crooked roads, and if we end up traveling one of those crooked paths that do not lead to the correct end destination, the consequence? Proverbs 14:12:   There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. [Proverbs 14:12 New King James Version]   Brother Bob: Not all roads lead to the destination of that Holy City; the New Jerusalem,
