Rambling and, unfortunately, just not very good
Two stars is too harsh, it should really be two-and-a-half. It might easily be much better. Unfortunately, the level of analysis and discussion is often puddle-deep compared to the oceanic depths that can be plumbed in Tolkien’s work. Insights come from stepping outside your own generational cultural reference points not by reinterpreting a work written decades ago within them. If this podcast showed more interest in looking into the world Tolkien inhabited to find out why he wrote what he did, it would be excellent. As it is, I’m moving on. The road goes ever on in search of a decent Tolkien podcast. Sigh.
