I attempted
I started to listen to the podcast regarding Malcom X birthday. The host seems knowledgeable about the content, but I couldn’t tolerate his method of delivery to the audience. He made the comment “We don’t read” I’m assuming he is meaning black people don’t read. This language choice and his opinion is extremely detrimental to the black community. It is this type of stereotype and self hate language about our people that encourages other groups (that may listen to him) to talk down on us and believe the stereotypes. Black people READ! We are intelligent beings, We are innovative, we are resilient and wise. Negative talk about our people on this type of platform is unacceptable. I’m all about promoting black love in all areas, including the manner of our language and how we speak to and about black people. The host must recognize negative talk about us is a form of oppression. Do better Mister. -Shyra DeJuan a Black knowledge Book Club Host
