Simplistic Takes on Complex Issues
The variety of guests Tome interviews is a strong point of this podcast, but reducing everything to being “aggressive” robs topics from Mideast conflict to homosexuality of the nuance they deserve. When he’s out of his depth, it shows. The Mars Hill podcast episode is especially problematic. Tome and his megachurch pastor friends center themselves and downplay any legitimate harm their institutions have caused. No self-awareness. All backslapping and ego-stroking. Hard pass.
