Understanding the Anglo Boer War- Supurb
Truely facinating, very easy listening, extremely well researched with a little bit of humour added. Des makes the series come alive in his week by week review of the unfolding of this tragic war. He highlights the sheer arrogance of Cecil John Rhodes and Lord Millner. How the Boers valiantly faught a foe which far out numbered them with remarkable sucess. he highlights the tragedy of the concentration camps in the latter part of the war and the senseless death of tousands of women and children. I would highly recommend this series and once you start you will be rivited by the detailed accounts of the war and individuals who played their part.

I listen to and read vast quantities of history literature and I think Des Latham ranks at the top of the oral history tradition, seems to be quite accurate, excellent presentation and he has a great mix of being empathetic and human without losing strength and becoming drippy and over revisionist.
