Long ago on the tip of Africa, and yet so current
The AngloBoer War broke the back of old style imperial war machines and introduced so many new tactics we still see today. Des has brought this all to light in the most interesting and in-depth way. It is truly fascinating, and sad. The death and destruction wrought across South Africa for the sake of gold and diamonds was staggering. Like the contemporary DRC with their blood diamonds, these glittering minerals and stones bring much misery to the majority of every day citizens in the countries they are found. It is the few that gain. Well done Des. I hope the documentary series comes to light. If it’s half as good as your podcast, it will be a great success.

The first episode confuses Joseph Chamberlain (the Colonial Secretary at the turn of the century) with his son Neville Chamberlain (the Prime Minister who appeased Hitler). ☹️
