Tensions in the Middle East came to a boiling point in 1956. Israel and Egypt were already at odds with one another and, when Egyptian President Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal, he sparked an international crisis that would eventually involve Britain, France, and the United States. 

In this episode, we talk about the dissolution of British rule in Palestine. After continued violence and economic uncertainty, Britain turns over the question of Palestine to the UN. The result: a partition plan and a war.
