“I started listening to The Archers during a year in England. I liked it and kept up with it through podcasts when I returned. Little by little the writers made clear that the show would ‘challenge’ its traditional listeners and make the show more edgy. I hung on, despite the charm being worn away. Once they decided to have a character abort her child after being fairly far along simply because she ‘didn’t want it’, I asked myself ‘what are you doing?’ The show’s writers hate people like me. I need to move on and leave Ambridge to their not so tender mercies.”
