Description
Welcome back to The Artists Contemporary Podcast! This weeks episode is slightly different with Anna chatting to two artists in two parts. The episode is all about The Artists Contemporary’s most recent duo show Rough Around the Edges. The Artists Contemporary is proud to present Rough Around the Edges an online duo show exhibiting the work of Megan Rea and Bislacchi. The exhibition investigates the artists fascination with colour, form and materiality, with both artists pushing and challenging the conventional ideas around what is a canvas and paper based work. Rea creates her own handmade paper as the base to her fresco inspired paintings, the handmade paper has a unique texture that works with the imagery. Yet Rea’s rich palette and elements of ribbons and stars transport you into a world of warmth and fantasy. Bislacchi creates sculptural paintings that completely flip the traditional use of canvas. He paints and fold the canvas around the stretcher, the works feel strong yet tensed through the folding and creases ofstrong canvas. Bislacchi pushes his work further through his use of colour, scale and pattern.
