For the first Assurance Podcast episode Juba is joined by Kampire, one of Uganda’s most exciting DJs and a core member of Kampala's Nyege Nyege collective and label. Throughout the conversation they explore recent political events in Uganda, Kampala’s music scene and the challenges that are faced when running the LGBTQ+ friendly Nyege Nyege Festival. Kampire also discusses creating safe spaces for women in Kampala’s music scene, gives tips on getting started as a DJ and mobility for African artists and talks about the spirit of support that’s shared amongst fellow female DJs.
