“The Best Show on WFMU is the highlight of my week.
I've got a busy school and work schedule, but every Tuesday you can find me sitting beside my radio listening to Tom Scharpling. There is no other form of entertainment that brings it as hard and strong as the Best Show on WFMU.
Each week, Tom Scharpling navigates us through callers both good and bad, all the while introducing interesting topics for discussion and ranting about this and that.
While this would be more than enough for most, the Best Show doesn't stop there. More often that not, the show features thought out comedy bits, written by Scharpling and his partner in crime, Jon Wurster. Together, the two have created a world of characters that get increasingly ridiculous and funny as the weeks go by.
The Best Show is unique in terms of pacing. Unlike most radio (or podcast, for that matter) comedy, Tom lets the show breath. Without commercial interruptions, Tom can allow for long pauses, something you never hear on the radio. The length of the show may be a deterrent to some. It may take a couple shows, but once you are in the swing of things, you will wish the show was twice as long.
Honestly, I can't speak highly enough of the Best Show on WFMU. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that this show is the peak of comedy in the world today.
