Uneven but occasionally brilliant
I've been listening for a bit over a year, so I don't consider myself a Friend of Tom or a hardcore listener. Lots of great stuff here with Scharpling, Vance, Gary the Squirrel and AP Mike. Good, intelligent and quirky callers help - but it's only because Scharpling knows what to do with them. I may be in the minority, but I think the weakest element is actually Wurster's personas. I could be wrong, but I've really tried - and there are some times when the show soars with Wurster, but to me they're few and far between.

More reviews of The Best Show on WFMU with Tom Scharpling
If you listen once and don't get anything that's going on don't worry, I didn't either at one point. Give it 5 or maybe even 10 episodes and you'll see why every review on here is a 5. These reviews aren't plants like some people suspect. We just feel this show needs the recognition it deserves.

Download this show, sit back and let Tom make you laugh and laugh and laugh. He's the best at what he does.

The "Best Show on WFMU" is incorrectly named. The title should read "The Best show on Earth," and I imagine if we ever discover alien life, "The Best Show in the Universe." No other podcast comes close. There is no "giving this a chance." it's click, subscribe, and become a Friend of Tom.
