Contemptuous
So many people in the reviews identify with these hosts- wounded or weary of the broken people and shallow traditions today’s Christianity offers. I’m devastated these people are turning to this podcast in their weariness. Because rather than receiving the life-giving, hope-filled, refining, soul-quenching teachings of Jesus and Scripture, the hosts take a seat right next to these weary folk, and tickle their ears, disdaining the brokenness of people and faith traditions. They cast pretentious stones of judgment on Christians- somehow associating, yet also dissociating, from these people. The tone is “come here let’s talk casually about our shared faith experiences” with a huge side of “I can’t believe these {other} Christians!” I’ve heard contempt for one’s spouse is the most dangerous emotion in a marriage. The perspective of the Bible Binge is contemptuous. It minimizes Christian traditions, Spiritual and biblical wisdom, and authentic faith. The hosts have distanced themselves from Truth (the Bible isn’t completely trustworthy, they say), and isolated themselves from Christian community or authority (many if not all talk about no longer being involved in Christian church community). Therefore, it’s no surprise to me that Bible binge hosts are puttering out of energy, and taking “faith sabbaticals.” For so long, they have satirized the Word of God, so they’re left being powered by their own intellect and human wisdom. Exhausting. Although they claim to know God, they neither worship Him nor give thanks to Him, so their foolish hearts have been darkened. While claiming to be wise, they have become foolish. If you’re interested in having your ears tickled about how broken our churches and cultures are, keep listening. If you want healing, spiritual growth, and to be a contributing member of God’s Kingdom, this podcast will not only waste your time but could be extremely dangerous for your faith journey. I would recommend podcasts by Annie F. Downs, Lisa Harper’s Back Porch Theology, The Basement, The Bible Project, Therapy & Theology, or The Luskos. Hosts and producers… I’m not sure what kind of church or human pain you’ve experienced. I’m sorry for it. I hate it for you. Please go heal somewhere else and don’t publicly mislead others in the process. This show is not teaching biblical literacy, but biblical contempt. If it continues in this contempt, please consider rebranding.

I’ve listened to Knox and Jamie’s podcast “The Popcast” for a while so I was super excited to hear them bring their flare and humor to the Bible Binge. It does not disappoint as I am eagerly awaiting more episodes. They appeal to people who’ve known the Bible for years, as well as newcomers....Read full review »

I grew up in the church and feel like I know the Bible pretty well, with that said, often times learning about the Bible can be a little monotonous at times. Knox and Jamie do a great job of teaching the story but making it so entertaining and so funny. I recommend this podcast to Christians and...Read full review »
