“Absolutely hare-brained logic and explanation offered here. India has seen its fair share of coalitions but this is by far the most incoherent & opportunistic lot ever and that too with a hackneyed plot to keep one party (or man) out of power. “Democracy is under threat” is what they say - fear mongering at its worst. Each of the so called mahagathbandhan partners have vested interests - they too realise they can’t win it just on their own but want to disrupt take vote share away from BJP. They may patch up a rickety coalition with Congress with good old fashioned horse trading. And then there is the looming question of leadership - everyone is maintaining stoic silence on it now but will maul each other to grab the top seat (that is if they don’t spectacularly implode by then). The markets, businesses and investor community are not going to take it kindly and we will see economic activity suffer amidst the infighting and game of musical chairs.
The mandate should clearly go to BJP+ or Congress+. Mahagathbandhan is a curse.”
